Our innovation workshops or 'labs' allow our extensive range of collaborators to help you develop your skills and ideas into finished products.

Labs around the world

It's a big world out there, but with 14 labs in 14 countries hosting 447 participants from 54 different countries we're already started making a real change to it.

14 Labs

And counting. We have many more in the pipeline with new groups and in new countries. We are always looking for ideas for sessions to run so get in touch with your ideas.

155 participants

We have had participants from charities, peace groups, government and NGO. We partner these with creatives from the country we hold the Lab in to help foster new ideas and ways of working.

Our aim is to be running Labs on every continent to help young activists to start making change.

Showing what's possible

At each Lab we work with activists to create their own counterspeech campaigns. Working with our extensive range of collaborators we can help you develop your skills and ideas into finished products. The variety of ideas and messages has been incredible and we are very proud of all the work that's come out of each Lab.

Run your own lab

The Labs have been developed to work in a wide range of national and regional contexts with activists from differing backgrounds. They are designed to ensure that everyone can start at the same level, with nothing assumed of them other than their willingness to engage. Participants are encouraged to bring their own experience and expertise to the table, whether that is in peacebuilding, countering violent extremism, combating hate speech, technological expertise or a creative talent.

The Lab is a highly versatile model with almost universal applicability; however, extremism affects different regions differently and labs must reflect this diversity. To this end we have partnered with numerous organisations and Governments to run Labs on their behalf. If you're interested in being one of them reach out to us below.

A workshop to wipe out fake news.

October 4, 2018

YouthCAN is teaming up with the online Civil Courage Initiative and Facebook to wipe out fake news, and we need your help! Join us for a 2-day, fully-funded workshop on 4-5 October in Berlin and work with other youth activists and industry experts to flex your creativity and craft an innovative new campaign to address and counter fake news and misinformation online. The best campaign ideas will receive funding and support. Apply today!

The application closes on 21 Sept., but applications will be accepted on a rolling basis so apply early. The working language of the event is English. ISD will cover the cost of transportation and accommodation for those coming outside of Berlin, along with most meals.
